About your trainer

 Lisa V Kusch M.Sc, B.Ed, SBT, CBBA

Lisa has spent over 25 years at the feet of women during childbirth taught Lisa much about the power of breath. There she learned to honour the deep wisdom of the human body, the transformative power of birth and the formative imprints of transitional experiences on our identity. There she learned to listen, to witness, to dance with change, and to hold sacred and intimate space for others.

Lisa has served as a nationally certified professional birth doula trainer. She has guided hundreds of women through the journey of doula work through her Birth Rhythms doula course. She has also created and delivered course curricula for prenatal fitness, childbirth, parenting, postpartum recovery, perinatal mood disorders and birth-trauma recovery in addition to serving women as a doula and a  volunteer doula for survivors of sexual abuse.

Her concurrent career as a mental health professional with a special focus on integrative therapies for trauma recovery led to an exploration of conscious connected breathwork. The potency of her personal experiences with breathwork was a pivot point personally and professionally. She now pursues understanding how both the science and the spirit of breath practices affect our presence and performance.

After completing certification in Somatic Breath Therapy, she became a Certified Breath Behavior Analyst, and in 2020 completed a Masters degree in Applied Breathing Sciences through the Graduate School of Behavioral Health Sciences. She is the Canadian National Representative to the International Breathwork Foundation , and is a professional member of both the Canadian Thoracic Society and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

She is grateful to have the opportunity to join the faculty at Numa Somatics in 2021 and continues to lovingly serve others in her private practice as they access consciousness. In addition to providing in house recovery support for the Mental Health Carehome, Lisa offers public group classes and retreats along with private learning sessions through Room to Breathe Integrative Therapies.

Lisa looks forward to sharing new knowledge and experiences with those joining the course. She hopes to inspire and encourage those who are looking to support and serve others.
