Birth Support

“Attending births is like growing roses.  You have to marvel at the ones that just open up and bloom

at the first kiss of the sun but you wouldn’t dream of pulling open

the petals of the tightly closed buds and forcing them to blossom to your time line.”

 -Gloria Lemay

I provide doula care for women from pregnancy through postpartum. I provide support and information

from a holistic perspective as pregnancy and birth are very much a whole body experience.

During pregnancy I provide support and information for a healthy pregnancy. I also offering prenatal education for clients in addition to our prenatal meetings. I am independent and self-employed. I work for you, not your caregiver or hospital. In our prenatal meetings we will become acquainted and explore and discuss your priorities and

any fears or concerns, and to plan how we all might best work together.

Doula care includes non-medical birth support and accompanying women in labour. As I work for you I  help promote a safe and satisfying birth experience for you. I will draw on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort, and the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labour. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labour progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort.

After birth I offer postpartum support for the following 6 weeks. My lactation consultant services are available as part of my services for the first week postpartum. We will meet several times after birth

and I will give suggestions for healing and comfort.
